A ghost depicted in the art book "Kaibutsu Gahon" published during the Edo period. Standing under a willow tree in a cemetery full of stupas on a crescent moon night, wearing a white robe and triangular paper, it symbolizes Japan's unique view of the dead. This figure, which gives the impression of a lifeless, flesh-and-blood ghost and a grudge, had a major influence on later ghost stories and paintings, and is an essential presence when talking about Edo's culture of the supernatural.
