"Miura no Suke and Uesugi's Slaying of the Nine-Tailed Fox of Nasuno" is a medieval legend about a fox demon that appeared in Nasuno, disguised itself as a beautiful woman and bewitched the emperor. The demon was defeated in a fierce battle by the military commanders Miura no Suke and Uesugi, who received orders from the imperial court. The slain fox turned into a killing stone and brought misfortune, and the story was passed down to later generations as a warning against the ruin caused by desire and deception.
